Symptom: The bypass kit programs successfully and the remote-starter is able to start the vehicle numerous times until the dash and/or steering column cover is re-assembled at which time the remote-starter is no longer able to bypass the PATS/Transponder system.
Cause: The PATS/Transponder ring has been misplaced or damaged during the re-assembly process.
Solution: Disassemble the steering column cover and inspect the bypass kits transmission ring. Depending on the ring being used...
A. If the bypass kit's ring is a copper colored wire with a transparent plastic sheath you will need to fasten it to the ring using small amounts of hot glue so it does not move when the sterring column is re-assembled. Do not use polyurethane based glue stick as this will interfere with the ring's transmission. Ensure the ring has no slack by using a tie-wrap to keep the ring tight against the key-cylinder so the bypass kit's ring resembles a figure-8.
B. If the bypass kit's ring is a simple 22-gauge wire wound in a few loops simply tighten the ring around the key-cylinder by sliding the wire within the heat-shrink guides.
C. If the bypass kit's ring resembled a small circuit-board carefully inspect the ring to ensure that is has not been cracked during re-assembly. If this is the case the ring will need to be replaced.
